Joomla 5.03 and Phoca Gallery Slideshow Plugin 4.4

I created a new install and setup an image category for the slideshow on the home page. I am using this code:

{pgslideshow id=4|width=980|height=480|delay=3000|image=O}

The page has the code injected but there are no images:

I assume a piece of JavaScript is failing but was wondering if anyone had an idea where to start.

The existing Phoca Slideshow Plugin v4.4.0 is made for Joomla! 3.x, therefore it does not work in J5.
