Category edit: Editing the featured thumbnail not possible

Hi,
when I want to edit the thumbnail that represents the category in Categories View (in 'Image' on the Category editing page), I get the message 'loading failed'. If I clear the field or leave it empty, then the first image according to the set sort order is displayed. This is mostly fine, but I would like to be able to set the featured image of the gallery shown in gallery overview.

As the image description is a compound of letters and numbers (e.g. XY 23456), it actually shows me a selection when I enter the numbers, but not the letters...

To expand the question further, where is the backend search governed from? Is it possible to tweak it somehow?

You should use there the image title, not the image description. See image:
