Link to most recent file in category?

Hi, is it possible to automatically link to the most recent file in a category?
Let me explain what I'm trying to achieve... we produce a weekly printed newsletter, and make a pdf version available from our website. At the moment, I'm using joomla's mod_latestnews module to create a front page link to the article containing the pdf link for the most recent newsletter. However, I'd really like visitors to be able to download the newsletter directly, rather than having to go to the containing article first. And ideally, I'd like this to happen automatically, rather than having to manually edit the link each week. Is there a way to do this in Phoca Download?
