Hi, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to embed a YouTube clip with Phoca Download on Joomla 1.6.

I have seen this page (https://www.phoca.cz/documents/51-phoca- ... oad-plugin) but I don't understand where to put the code.

For example, I create a new file under the Phoca Download Component menu and enter the folllowing code into the description window:
When I save and browse to the article and click the link, I get an "Error while downloading file (Mime Type not found) message." I also don't understand what to put in the required "Filename" field, because when I browse for a file there is nothing like a "Embed YouTube" option....Clearly doing something wrong.

I've been looking for a guide to using YouTube with Phoca but have not had much luck.

You do not have to create a new file for a youtube video.
Just add this code to a new article body and save it. See:


Backend - Article Manager


Frontend - Article

That's all.
But if you want to link a download/category available by the PD component then you have to create it there first.

Hope this makes it clearer for you how to handle the plugin.

SonRiab - thanks a ton for the reply. Some odd things - no matter what I do I keep getting <p></p> tags around the phoca code when it's saved. I have changed the Super User filtering to "no filters' and I can currently embed YouTube directly outside of Phoca without it being stripped. Would love any ideas there.

But when I create the YouTube video in an article, how then do you link that to a Phoca category? The only categories available to the Menu item are the "standard" (i.e., non-Phoca created) categories. I'm trying to add a menu item to Phoca categories of files, but not sure how to connect the article back to Phoca if it was not created there?

TinyMCE and most other visual editors will surround all lines with the specified tag if nothing else surround it.
Most of them are using p- or div-tags. I am not sure if you can disable it somewhere for the TinyMCE.
If you are a little bit familiar with HTML you can use CodeMirror which does not modify your text.

I was able to remove the automatic paragraph tags in the JCE plugin; but no luck.

Switched to CodeWarrior - thanks - but no luck.

It could be a setting somewhere is precluding it from playing. Either way this was a very enlightening conversation in general and thanks for the efforts.

Do you have enabled the plugin?
See Extensions->Plug-in Manager and search for the Phoca Download Plugin!
If not enable it and have fun!

Well what do you know about that - no plugin, just the component installed! Have installed the plugin and activated it and bingo.

It works as advertised.
