No. I don't you do, I think you will only have to create one hidden menu that point to the section, or maybe the category as well, and it should work for all the files below that. I haven't had time to fully test it yet!! Too much work

does not include itemid, it means the menu item was not found - check if menu link exists to Phoca Download (e.g. to sections) and if it is published, see:

Links get SEF URL because the menu link to category exists.

I am understanding the issue of needing a menu link in order for the SEF URLs to be generated.

Is thee a way to explicitly tell Phoca Download which menu-link to use?

My situation is that I have web pages or each committee in our organization with menus and a menu-item that links to category view (single category in Phoca Downlaod, assigned to the documente for that committee.)

The problem arises when I enter the Document Library from a different master menu-link into the overall document library (Section List view)

When I navigate thorough he library and reach a category and click on the link to that category, it takes me to the committee page.

I understand why this is happening. Phoca needs a menu link to the category view in order to generate the SEF URL and the committee page has such a menu link. M issue is that I don't want to go to the committee page when I am just navigating the library.


I created a hidden menu with a menu-item linking to the the individual categories. I changed the alias in the Phoca Download category to match the alias for the menu-item in the hidden menu. That did nothing and the categories links still point to the Committee page menu.

Again, is there a way to explicit tel a Phoca category to point to a particular menu-item (item)ID


I fear we may have to abandon either SEF or Phoca.

BTW, Categories in Phoca that do not have a menu-item created work fine. The trouble only starts when I create a menu-item outside the library to link to a category. Seems strange.

I now see that the SEF has nothing to do with this issue.

My new question is how does Phoca decide which ItemID it will use to generate the page?

If I do not create any other menu-links to specific category, it uses a default ItemId.

If I create menu-item link to a category, it uses the one I create but uses it everywhere.

Hi, yes, Phoca Download tries to find the Itemid, if it will not find, there is no itemid. It tries to find it first in menu link to categories view, then to category view then to file view. The same id is important because of settings. Settings are set to menu link (itemids) so if you have the same itemid you have the same settings, see e.g.:
