Move images to specific image folder?

I have read the thread and it would seem there is not a way to move photos to a specific folder after you have already uploaded them? It was all too easy to upload them without creating a folder for them and then the list of images in the root just grows and grows. I can move them using ftp but it sounds like that creates some link problems? Is this correct?

Follow UP: I decided to risk moving them using FTP and it appears to work without causing any problems.
