Guestbook spam protection

I just have installed the guestbook on my site. Incl. captcha and forbidden words. etc. But the spam gets through. Now I saw while registering that you have on your forum a lot of protective setups installed. But that is too much for a guestbook. Nobody will leave a comment there if they have to go through all the questions & captcha etc. Is there a possibility to build in a block in the PHP to irritate the spam and block it that way. But is hidden from viewers.
Or does sombody has a different solution for the buestbook spamers.
