Hello,
How do I change the avatar of the category instead of showing the folder avatar (icon)? I have categories that do not have any images under them, just subcategories. Please note I am asking for Phoca Gallery V4.
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Benno,
Thanks for your reply that does not help. Even if I select avatar in parameters it still does not show anything.

Hi,
2.) Go to: backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Phoca Gallery Control Panel --> Options --> Category View --> (and set) Display Image Instead Of Folder Icon=Yes
Save & Close
3.) Read the article I recommended carefully. (Because the next steps are described there)
4.) Add the image that should represent the category (only categories which don't contain images, but only subcategories) to this category. (Thumbnails of this image will be created)
5.) Mark this image as: 'Published' and 'Not Authorized'. Now this image will represent this category in categories view, but will not be visable in categoy view.
6.) Do step 4&5 with all categories, which don't contain images, but only subcategories.
Kind regards,
Benno
1.) Don't use the Avatar function, because this means, this Avatar represents all categories. (And I'm not sure, if this is what you want)Even if I select avatar in parameters it still does not show anything.

Re: Category Avatars
Benno,
Thanks for the quick response. I have made some progress.
My questions on my "main" photo gallery page @ this url, http://joom3.58fire.com/multimedia/photos.html you will see the categories incidents, training and certification, around the firehouse, etc.; I have added an image to Incidents (Which is a picasa image) and set it published and unauthorized. Unfortunately though it will not show the image. Is there something wrong with my settings or something?
Thanks,
Chris

Ok, I have done this.Benno wrote:set: backend --> Components --> Phoca Gallery --> Phoca Gallery Control Panel --> Options --> Categories View --> Display Avatar As Category Image= No

This is because I have not set them. I have now done it just for Incidents --> 2011 and have got it to work. I still have not done the remaining categories.Benno wrote:The categories 2011, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002 contains no images.

Re: Category Avatars
Hi,
Try to check it with a 'local' image inside a Phoca Gallery category.
Kind regards,
Benno
I'm not sure if this will work with a picasa image and I can't test it, because I don't have (and I don't want) a picasa account.I have added an image to Incidents (Which is a picasa image) and set it published and unauthorized. Benno,
Thanks,
Chris
You are correct when in categories view, Picasa images will not work, but when I upload an image it will. There is a problem with the image for the category in categories view. It has to be published and authorized for it to work or else it will not show the image. Is there any way to get the image to be unauthorized and still show as the category image?Benno wrote:I'm not sure if this will work with a picasa image and I can't test it, because I don't have (and I don't want) a picasa account.

Hi,
Kind regards,

Sorry, if you mean a Picasa image, I don't know an other way (because I can't and I will not test it (as I wrote above, I don't want to have a Picasa account!!))There is a problem with the image for the category in categories view. It has to be published and authorized for it to work or else it will not show the image. Is there any way to get the image to be unauthorized and still show as the category image?
