How to remove Red Wine from Spandex / Lycra

Step by step
- Test first: dab your chosen agent on a hidden corner of the spandex / lycra and wait 2–3 minutes to confirm no discoloration.
- Cold water: flush or blot with cold water — never warm.
- Table salt: pile on salt to draw the liquid out while it is still wet.
- Dish soap: mix a few drops with cold water into a light suds.
- Hydrogen peroxide (3%): dab on 3% hydrogen peroxide after a patch test.
- Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry the surface fully so no residue film is left behind.
Do not do this
- Hot or warm water. Heat cooks the stain into the fibers, making it permanent.
- Rubbing the spot. It pushes the stain deeper and spreads it outward.
- Direct sunlight before treating. Heat from the sun can set the stain the same way warm water does.
- Any heat source (iron, hair dryer, tumble dryer). Heat on spandex / lycra can bond the stain permanently or warp the material.
