The alcohol evaporates fast but can leave a faint ring from the oils that carry the fragrance, and resists moisture well but can discolor if strong solvents sit on the surface.

- Gather your materials before you start — set out everything so you are not searching mid-treatment.
- Dish soap: mix a few drops with cold water into a light suds.
- White vinegar: mix one part vinegar with two parts water.
- Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry the surface fully so no residue film is left behind.
Do not do this
- Direct iron contact. Always use a paper towel barrier or you will spread melted wax further.
- Rubbing the spot. It pushes the stain deeper and spreads it outward.
- Any heat source (iron, hair dryer, tumble dryer). Heat on vinyl flooring can bond the stain permanently or warp the material.
