The length for (file) is too big.

I'm getting the following error:
The length for '100_1242.JPG' is too big. (702.49 KiB)
I'm not sure where it's coming from and which setting I need to change to fix it.
All of my front end upload options are set to unlimited sizes and the I changed the maximum width/height of images to 9000 just to be sure.

Any help please?

Hi, can you past here the exact phrase, I cannot find any such error message

Anyway, did you set the parameters for the menu link in parameters component (for upload menu link):

https://www.phoca.cz/documents/16-joomla ... -in-joomla

I am encounterig the same "Alert" The file lenght for "picture" is too big. In this case 373,49KiB. Probably this alert is produced by Jupload. I checked settings as wel in Joomla! (were you can enable flash upload for several pic's) as wel in Phoca. I tried just a picture of 2048x1536 รก 1,48Mb large. The standard upload of the mediamanager with tittle and comment text is producing no problems up to 8 Mb (largest picfile I have). As the picture upload flash settings are to be to reduce the picture to 640x480 it might be a server (memory?) setting problem resulting of Jupload to cry. In phocagallery I leave the menu configs for the module blank and use the global settings only. As a admin I use myself ftp for pic adding, but for front end users it is a 'crime' to get pictures into the gallery. I reduce whole maps with pic's with the free resize of MS which could be called just within in windowsmenu by right clicking the pic (or selected pic's), leaves the photo information also unharmed.
The message still keeps me puzzled.

Where you upload the image? in frontend in UCP or in category view, in backend?

Jan, I did some thorough testing (FE) and the problem isn't directly caused by Phocagallery. In the general settings of Joomla! There is a setting something like enable flash uploader. This was set. After I disable the flash uploader of joomla! the error disapeared and the java upload in phoca worked. However the zero option for unlimited upload still doesn't work. At the moment I have no time and will figure out this later as I just put a 'normal' limit to the photo upload to allow category FE upload. Maybe this could help others in the right direction. As usual it works like a charme... Btw there must be something wrong with the Joomla! stuff as _enabling_ flash upload also blocks the upload (BE) via the standard media manager. Unabling it and the upload via the media manager (BE) works again.

I'm getting this error and my Joomla flash uploader is already turned off so I can't see it as a Joomla problem. Has anyone gotten to the bottom of this? Phoca was going to work as I needed until I encountered this error - after only 10-12 pics uploaded. My client has thousands!

I have the same problem. We are hosting 8 GByte and using 4,5 GByte so there must be enough space.
Single File Upload works 100%. Only Java Upload is not working
