Hi, try to check your site, if there is no conflict with other javascript code - maybe some extension, maybe template.

the modal box is a part of joomla framework and if there are no other javascripts there should be no problem

I've seen on your website (photo section) you've solved the problem of "closing window" with phoca gallery. Could tell me which is your solution?
