Header (title) background replacement

Hello everyone.
After 2 days of fighting I decided to ask you for help.
I would like to change background of header (title) where is username, email, name etc. I know how to change colour, but I would like to put background file with repeat-x option.
I tried in some places but can't find any thing. I even tried to change php code i default.php but I don't know almost anything about php and it did not work.
I'm waiting for any suggestions.
