PayPal success doesn't change status

I'm using PhocaCart 5.2.3 on a Joomla 5.4 site. With new order, status = Pending and is correctly logged in Orders and an email sent to the user. When user goes to PayPal (our only pay option) and successfully pays, after returning to the site, customer gets the display "Info: Your order and payment have been successfully processed" So far so good.
But in Orders, no automatic change from Pending to Confirmed and no email sent to customer or admin of confirmed status. I believe the email templates for Confirmed are set to email customer and admin. Order Statuses shows Pending and Confirmed as published. What setting have I overlooked ??
