Regarding the Maps component, is it possible to move the map above the description text?

Have you tried a Template Override for your needs?

Not yet, was hoping for a quick/simple fix

Is that the best option?

Unless it is already in the extension, it is the quickest for you issue. Otherwise, you will have to wait on someone else to fix the issue, which may not be as quick a solution as you would like.
