Hi there

I have products which are people (item) attached to one or more categories and with about 20 custom fields.

It should be possible to search with the custom field contents in a global search and as well to select with the contents of some of the custom fields. And I looking for a functionality to update data from an external source (e.g. csv file).

Where do I find the basic information to design my solution?

Hi, there are core Joomla custom fields, which can be used but there are not searchable for now as they slow down the system essentially. See this documentaiton:
