Hello All,

newbie question here.

We need to fill extra fields with direct links to downloads.

What is actually the direct link for downloading a file?

In the content area we use the Phoca Download Plugin Shortcode.
It generates this kind of link which works perfectly.

/index.php/de/component/phocadownload/category/4-pressemitteilungen?download=9:pressemitteilung-dachventilatoren-gewerbliche-kuechenabluft&Itemid=460

Is there a shorter version of this link we could use to fill our extra fields (URL)?
The link should action the download, not displaying.

Hi, direct link is just direct link to your file on the server, so the url includes the path to real file located on your server (you cannot protect direct links with login, browser decides if the file will be downloaded or displayed inside browser, etc. - it is in fact link which is not managed by Phoca Download)

Ling length - it looks like the displayed link does not have a menu link alias, so it is longer due to mussing menu link alias. Did you create a menu link to Phoca Download (e.g. to categories view)?

We created an extra menu link alias: Phoca Download type >categories view to shorten the generated links.

For direct links in the extra fields, we will check how manage this.
We also want to protect some files, so we will change the 'Download Folder' in the Phoca Download Configuration to be above root folder.
