How do you create a link within newsletter to a PDF

Using the Newsletter editor I've created a link to a pdf document which is located in the media manager.
An example would be: http://www.example.com/images/test.pdf
The newsletter when sent provides the link as images/test.pdf.
Switching off the TinyMCE editor and using no editor as done in articles etc. still strips off the http://example.com
Is there some way to have the complete link within a newsletter?
Something like the provided {article link} would be great. Suggestion: {pdf link}.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Phil

Follow up notes:
For a quick solution there are three ways to get a link to a local PDF into a newsletter:
1. Switch the system default editor to None.
2. Switch the system default editor to CodeMirror.
3. Create an article which contains a link to the PDF and use the {articlelink} within the newsletter to point to that article.

Each of these have a degree of annoyance.
One and Two require the OP to edit without WYSIWYG capability. This can be rather complicated if the newsletter has any degree of formatting and/or graphics.
The third procedure requires the recipient of the newsletter to click on the article link and then click on the PDF link.

For a forth option the OP could install a third party editor that allows absolute links within the newsletter.

Hi, yes, not sure, but is there no parameter for the editor to not skip internal links (when the link is external, it should work OK)

Yes, this is good idea, to add specific parameter for some link.

Added to feature request list.

Anyway I will take a look at it, regarding images, I implemented some feature to correct the path, so maybe this I can do for the internal links
