How do I use the IP-ban with multiple addresses?

Hello,

Can anyone help me with a problem I am having with the IP-ban for the guestbook? I am one of the webmasters for my volleyball club's website and we have been experiencing trouble with spam.

I tried to place multiple IP addresses in the IP-ban field in the preferences, but spam from those addresses still came through. Is there a specific character I need to use to separate the addresses?

I used a comma before, which did not seem to be working, and now use a semi-colon. So far, it seems effective, but it would be nice to be sure. I also removed the space between the semi-colon and the following IP-address. Does that matter?

Also, I tried posting this question ealier today but could not find my post on the forum. I apologies if I may have posted it twice now.

Regards

Hi, if you goes over the parameter name, you get the help tip:

"Add the IP(s) you want to block, to the IP(s) Ban list. Separate each IP with a semicolon (;)"

So yes, semicolon and the best practice is not using space. Using combination of all 3 captcha methods is recommended too.

Hello Jan,

Thank you for your help, I also turn on the 'random captcha' option like you suggested. I feel a bit silly for missing the onmousover message - I never thought of hovering the mouse pointer over the name of the field..

Anyway, another problem solved and another happy customer. Thanks!
