Message Review / Approval

Hi all, I am trying to setup the guestbook so that all comments are approved, now i have set the review message to YES in both the menu settings and also component settings. However each time a message is posted it goes straight onto the guestbook which is not what I would like. Approving the messages before they go up would be ideal.

I have looked up the forum for this but not really found my answer. Any help much apprecited as I love this component.

I am on the latest Guestbook 1.3.2

Hi, if you set that the message should be approved, it will be set as unpublished and cannot be displayed in frontend until admin approve this message. Only admin can see the message in frontend, so check if you are logged in in admin. If yes and you are admin then you will see the message but other (not logged in, not administrators) will not see this message.

Hi Jan, thanks for the prompt reply but i have this "Review Message" set to YES currently and it still just puts the message directly onto the frontend of the site - I do get an email saying a new message has been submitted but it is published before I go and check!! Is there some option besides this I am missing - I am setting this in the paramters of the component and also on the menu options. Is there some other place? :x

Yes I am, but the only options I have on the frontend is the ability to delete messages but after they have been made!!

Hi, if you are logged in as administrator you can see the posts but not logged user will not see them.

So the question:

. It does not, not logged users and not administrators cannot see the post only you as administrator can see it. If you will log out, then the posts will be not displayed. As administrator you can delete and publish/unpublish the post so you need to see the post.

Nope I think you may be miss understanding me. When a normal non user comes along and posts the messages goes straight onto the guestbook without approval. When I come to the site logged in or not logged in the message is there on the site for everyone to see - so I do not get a chance to approve it at all. When not logged in I can see this new message and so can everyone else who comes to the site.

What I am saying basically is that even with the options to review message switched to "Yes" in the backend it is not working as all users, non users and administrators can post a message and it goes straight there!!! :cry:

hi, try to check cache settings. see if there is some error in error log on your server. As I have any detailed information, still don't know where to search :(

Check the menu option that refers to your guestbook. In the "Parameters (Component)" settings on the right hand side, field "Review Message" should be either "Use Global" or "Yes". If you select "Use Global" then the value is taken from the component settings itself. For the e-mails (user Traffic1326): also check the menu item parameters and change field "Send Email" (this field does not have a "Use Global" option, it must be set manually). It should work fine then.
