I have downloaded the Phoca Gallery ver 1.6.3 beta (component module for Joomla 1.5) and I am getting the following errors:

1) when trying to upload the package file (.zip) I get the following error

* JFolder::create: Could not create directory
* Warning! - Failed to move file

I checked in the forum and in the manual and found a recommendation to manually create the phocagallery folder with permission 755. I did it but this did not solve my problem.

2) I then tried to load unzipped file from my local folder and then got a different error message :

* Please enter a package directory
Unable to find install package

At this point I am stuck

For information, I am hosted at SiteGround.com with the following config:
RedHat Enterprise Linux 4
MySQL server Version 5.0
PHP 5.0

I hope you can help me because I really like your product that I installed without problem on my local PC.

thanks in advance

Thanks Jan for the prompt answer - I had already tried that previously as you can see in my log :

Command: SITE CHMOD 777 phocagallery
Response: 200 Permissions changed on phocagallery

Unfortunately the problem persists

Any other hints ?

Yes it is, but you must install the component via installer. There are some information which will be saved in database (e.g. menu for component, params, ...)

But you don't have problems with Phocagallery folder, you have problem with installing components under Joomla!, so if you change the folder where Phoca Gallery saves images, it will not help you, becuase you must change your permissions in tmp folder, components folder, components in administration... and... everywhere where Joomla! wants to write files and folders...
