Not able to upload from frontend with user =/= superuser

Hi all,
i have the following problem:
its a site for 2 school classes and i have to separate the fotos that each will upload. So i have to find a way:
- to let users upload from frontend
- let them do it in mostly 2 folders
I have tried nearly everything, but im not able to get the upload working except for my superuser. This is what i get from my normal user.
There is no category where to upload images. First create a category please.
If your category is created and you cannot upload images then ask administrator:
if you have permission to upload images into the main category
if you are owner of the main category
if the user upload folder is set for your main category.
The user was able to create the main folder (which I set to no autorisation required) but the tab with the images gives no possibility to upload.
There have to be something about the permissions. The site is in italian. I hope its not the problem.
