Subject disabled/hidden but mandatory for editing in Backend

Hi Jan & Folks,

i just installed the Guestbook (3.0.1) on Joomla 3.2.1. works fine, just what i needed.
In Configuration i disabled the field "subject", it should not be displayed, cause the entries don't need a subject.

But if i edit an entry by myself in Joomla-Backend, i have to fill in a subject before saving my changes/the entry.
If i do so, the subject will be displayed in the entry on the frontend directly after the name.

I just checked the Configuration. In every option i can disable displaying subjects, except in "Entries".
You can hide them in the form itself and in the comments, but not in the entry. Perhaps this is a missing configuration option.

The Subject is the "link" to the entry in the backend, but it 'works' without it - mark entry with checkbox, press "edit". I know it's difficult to find a specified entry without subjects, but when everyone uses a "dummy subject" in his post/entry, you can't find it either. Perhaps it's possible to create a "fallback" in the backend-display of entries:
Use "subject", if emtpy use "name", if empty us "id" of entry... Just an idea.

There's also no option to hide the subject via css, the entry is started with "namn + subject", the both are concatinated to one field.

Any suggestions what to do know ?

Thanks for help !

Greetings Kai

Hi, the rules apply only on frontend, not on backend. So this seems, like there should not be required field for the subject in administration (the problem is backend and frontend get the same XML). I will try to solve this issue in next version.

Thank you for the info.

Jan
