Hi,
I tried to search the forum but no luck.
I have a site hosted on Aruba, made with Joomla 2.5.4 in which I installed Phoca Gallery 3.2.3. to show and make available for free download several thousands of pictures.
To me and many of my site guests happens that clicking the "download" button under the thumbnail (s-size) opens the preview picture ( the m-size) instead of starting download of l-size.
It seems not to be browser sensitive (happens either with Ie, Chrome and Firefox). At the beginning I partially solved with deleting browser cache and chronology, I also tried to regenerate thumnail creation, but no improvement
I really hope someone will help me finding a solution.

Hi, you can set in options:

a) clicking on download will open and iframe with original image (no thumbnail) which user can download by browser features
or b) you can set a direct link, means, you click on download and the original image (no thumbnail) will be directly downloaded.

Hi jan, I wrote a reply a few days ago, but I still don't see it published.
If is a delay due to moderation I apologize for double posting, if not it might have been me fooling around when ready to submit.

Back OT: I already tried to mess around with hide/show download icon, as well as with preview in standard box / windows popup box.
No one of these attempt solved the problem.
The problem seems quite random: in the same 50 images page I click on some thumbs and they open the full image to be rightclick saved, while other will open the phoca large preview (800px or so). At early stage when this misbeaviour was very limited (one in a thousand)
I tried regenerating the thumbs of the gallery involved and it seemed to work, but now it doesn't affect the problem, and these funny behaviour is getting worse: now is very very difficult to download pictures from my galleries.
If you do not want to loose time in making a registration to get into the galleris I can supply you a user/pw,either here or in private mail (as you prefer).

Last update: I have set "show download icon" (direct download) and set preview in popup window: now into the popup comes out the original size file and it can be saved with rightclick.
Although the result is reached (letting people download and save their picts) I'm still not quite happy with the aesthetics of it: If the preview cannot be seen it doesn't make much sense generating it (wasting hosting space and elab time).
I really hope you'll find the time to get a look at it and tell me where I'm making mistakes.

Hi, I don't understand what is the problem.

if you set download direct icon - user clicks it and original image will be downloaded
if you set download not direct icon - user clicks it and will see original image in iframe and can download it by right click

depends on which method you prefer

if you set preview icon, user can see the large thumbnal - because it does not make sense to download e.g. 2MB original image for preview

Preview works independent to download, so I still don't understand what is the problem

Hi Jan, the problem is that it does not behave as it should:
visitor clicks on preview, it opens the 800x533 "phoca_thumb_l" preview,
then he closes the preview and clicks the direct download and INSTEAD of downloading the full 2Mb file the site opens again the "phoca_thumb_l" (which is the 800x533 preview, not the full resolution pict).

I tried to set "download not direct icon" but again the site randomly chooses sometimes to open the full res file and sometimes the 800x533 thumb_L.
Preview SHOULD work independent to download
but in my case this does not happen and the site mix it up at his own choice
I really have no clue on why this happens, I tried to refresh the thumb generation, I toggled between direct download y/n, even hide/show camera info (just a nonsense try, I know).
On my site there are two "sensitive" features:
- php_value memory_limit 64M (limit imposed by the hosting provider)
- very large number of high res images (2940x1960, size from 2.8 to 3.3 Mb each), over 10.000 and rapidly increasing

Really hope you'll manage to find out what's wrong: I people cannot download the pictures by themselves they keep asking me to send them by mail, and that would be an unpaid fulltime job

are you sure you are using the phoca gallery download from phoca site? Without any modification?

The features is so made, that the link goes to original image, no other behaviour.

click on detail, you will get a thumbnail image, click on download link, you will get the original image.

There is no feature in Phoca Gallery which somehow manage original images (except phoca gallery ask GD library to create thumbnails) - if you upload image to your server - phoca gallery has no function to somehow change it, etc. The code of download link gets the link from original image - it it not possible that some server function or server settings will change this link (if you ask your browser to get google page, if you don't get it, then your browser was modified, the same with phoca gallery, if you ask it for download, you should get original image, if not then it was modified or I really don't have any idea how the other behaviour will be possible )

Hi Jan,
I'm pretty sure I've not a modified Phoca Gallery: in both occasions (first time when I installed it on my Joomla site and second time when I tried the update from 3.2.3 to 3.2.6) I did download the extension from:
www . phoca . cz / download / category / 1-phoca-gallery-component .

I normally upload the images by Filezilla into a newly created folder into:
www . fugagnoli . it / main / images / phocagallery
then I go to the control panel of my site and use the multiple add images of Phoca Galleries menu, finally start the thumb creation of them 100 images at time.

Have you had time to take a look at my site? If so did you see images that refuses to show the full resolution in the preview frame, or the other way around?
I agree with you that there should not be any way to modify the file that function download points to, and I don't have any evidence of server messing it. If I go looking with Filezilla at an image that will not download I regularly find it in the right folder, I even tried to download it with Filezilla and the image is apparently ok. Please try to look at it and see if you get any suspicious behaviour.
