Hello,

I have two main categories with sub and subsubcategories.

maincategory: events (one folder - containing subcategories)
subcategories: 2006, 2007, 2008, and so on within the folder events.
subsubcategories: event1, event2 in 2006
event1, event2, event3 in 2007 and so on

maincategory: clubevents (one folder - containing subcategories)
subcategories: 2006, 2007, 2008, and so on within the folder events.
subsubcategories: event1, event2 in 2006
event1, event2, event3 in 2007 and so on

when selecting the menu 'EVENTFOTOS' (List Of Categories (Categories View)) I also see the second main category. How can I prevent the second main category from being shown in frontend?

if you have two different menu entries you can filter the parent category id (Joomla Menu Manager - Basic Options - Filter Parent Category ID)

I'm working around with the same things right now.
Maybe you will recognize the same problem which I have actually with multiple phoca galleries coming from different menu items.
Concerning this I will ask Jan ...

thanks a lot for your tip, filtering the parent category id did it for me.
Do you have an idea how to shorten the category titles?
I mean the subcategories are 2006, 2007, 2008, etc.
and when clicking on the menu EVENTFOTOS I only want to see 2006, 2007, 2008 etc. beneath the avatar of the categories.

you mean without the parent category?
This is what I want too. Couldn't find the appropriate setting so far. Maybe not possible ...
Could you check, if my problem occurs with you also?
Pls. open your second gallery by clicking the assigned menu item and check, if the breadcrumb shows the correct path.
Here my breadcrumb shows the wrong parent category.

here I've just selected the category 'EVENTFOTOS 2012'



here you can see that the correct breadcrumb was built.
