Is it possible to upload mp4 files?

Hi,

I have an area of my site in which only certain users can access.

However, the videos are accessible through URL for everyone...

That's why I'm now using Phoca Download: to enable viewing videos to only certain users. But - the problem is - when I go to the backend and click files-> new and try to upload an mp4 file I get the message:

The file type is not allowed - file cannot be uploaded

Why?
:)

Hi, such file should be enabled as default, try to see the allowed mime types in your Options if the file is there?

Hi Jan,

Thanks for your help.

I don't see any option for mime types, where is that?
I click options in the component and get 4 tabs. But no mime.

Hi,

Thanks, I added mp4 files to the list, and it is possible to upload the videos now ( I thought that box was meant for frontend up/downloads only).

But, the problem is, anyone with the URL can open the video - even if the acess level is set to registered users only in the file settings.

Or am I doing something wrong??

:P

Hi, if the file is for download, you can move the download foder behind the public_html or you can set .htaccess for the folder on your server, so it cannot be directly accessible. If the file is for preview (play) designed, then you cannot move it behind the public_html and it needs to be accessible :-(
