Help adding Phoca Gallery to a Joomla page

Hello, sorry to be the person who only joins to ask your help in solving a problem, but I've exhausted all other options.
I'm having trouble installing a Phoca gallery inside a page on a Joomla site. All the tutorials are how to add a Phoca Gallery as a stand alone part of the site (i.e. click on a menu item called "Gallery" and it'll load the Phoca Gallery). I'm trying to have the Phoca gallery as the bottom part of a page I already have created. The page on this Joomla site that already has a working Phoca gallery installed has code like this:
{phocagallery view=category|categoryid=12|limitstart=0|
fontcolor=#B88A00|bgcolor=#ffffff|bgcolorhover=#e4e4e4|imagebgcolor=#ffffff|displaydownload=0|
detail=1|displaydetail=0}
So after tons of research I found these directions to add a NEW Phoca gallery:
To ADD a new Phoca Gallery (to add to a page where there currently is no phoca gallery)
Log into admin panel, select Components>phoca gallery>categories
Create new category and save
Then go to “images”
click “multiple add”
>>>this is the part where I get stuck. It makes me choose a "Parent Category", and the page/section where I want to add the photos to doesn't show up. Whenever I choose a random Parent Category, it doesn't seem to work (and to load the code into the actual Joomla page I use the above code, but instead of "categoryid=12", I use "categoryid=13". #13 is the new Phoca Gallery I just added pictures to).
Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm about 10 hours in and have tried everything I know. Basically I need to know specific directions of how to make a new Phoca Gallery through the Joomla interface (and if that involves making a new Parent Category; how to do that in a Joomla site), then what code I should put in the Joomla pages code (and I should note that when you go into Joomla's content manager and edit a page the above code shows up in its WYSIWYG editor, but when I click on "toggle editor" it shows me what I believe to be the full HTML code for the site which is vastly different, and to further complicate things when I view the actual page in my web browser the true HTML code is different....for example it has code for every image the Phoca gallery uses!).
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
