2.I want the menu link "sastra question papers" accessible only to registered users but should be viewable for all.Though i found three topics related to this particular problem they are not helpful.

I understand it but I don't know the difference between:

accessible x viewable... what should accessible mean ( accessible = viewable ) ?

Hi,
By accessible i mean the user can click on the menu item and view the contents of it.By viewable the user can just see it and when he clicks on it he should be prompted to login.

Is there an extension to achieve this(prompting to login).

Sorry for confusing you.

Hi,

This is what i am trying to achieve.
To create a menu item which when clicked by a member should should perform its function and when clicked by a guest it should prompt for a login just like when we click "post reply" in this forum without logging in we are prompted to login.

yes you can list the categories, if some of the categories is e.g. only for regiestered and you have set displaying registered categories in parameters component, every registered category will be displayed with folder icon and a lock, if not registered user click on the category, the login site will be displayed...
