Displaying category in an article using special field

Hello;
I have read you can insert whole category of phoca gallery into an article using special code you put into an article. I am wondering is there a reason why this code must be entered into an article itself and not as a special field? And a component(module, plugin, I am not very good at joomla terminology) than extract the parameters for specific article from this field and not from the article text itself? That way the authors of the article would not have to worry about changing their content every time the site administrators decide to change or sometimes upgrade their site. It is a pain to change 1000+ articles just to delete or modify the code that was inserted for one (or several) plugins? I believe a special table field would be a better and cleaner way to display such a content (for example one specific gallery that is tied to the article). If site administrator for whatever reason decides to cancel this extension than there is no need to run scripts through all the articles deleting special code and than check all the articles for any missing piece of this code... Well at least for us, that are using one gallery at the top/bottom of our articles
Could you, the developers of the extension and it's modules, components, plugins, ... please consider this option or at least explain why it is not proper for this type of extension.
Regards; Luka
Edit: typo in the title
