trouble installing Gallery 3.0.2

Had installed Gallery 3.0.2 few weeks ago to new web site. Created test gallery and attached to menu. Worked fine. The Phoca menu item disappeared from the admin component menu. Thought I had not installed, so installed again.
Got either could not build admin menu or another menu item has same alias. Uninstalled and installed several times. Downloaded the latest zip today, and same errors. Then "installed successfully" mssg appears, and the Phoca control panel appears.
Did install JoomlaWorks gallery plugin to show galleries in K2 content. It worked fine.
Issue is Phoca will not show up in the admin component menu.
