Titles, menus and links - advice needed please

Hi all

I have my gallery all set up and working, for the most part, however now I am trying to get the page titling and menu items correctly working but I am having a little difficulty and request some help please.

I have some Categories set up like this

Portfolio
> Portraits
> Buildings
> Animals

I have created a menu item for All categories which follows the same format being

Portfolio
> Portraits
> Buildings
> Animals

This results in providing me with URLs (SEF) like

mysite.com/portfolio
mysite.com/portfolio/portraits
mysite.com/portfolio/buildings
mysite.com/portfolio/animals

The problem however is that I now have two different pages for each album. I.e. one for the menu items as above. but when I view the Portfolio page which shows the three sub categories on that page, the urls used are

mysite.com/portfolio/
mysite.com/portfolio/category/14-portraits
mysite.com/portfolio/category/15-buildings
mysite.com/portfolio/category/14-animals

Which is not what is wanted, can I set these to use the menu item url's?

Also the actual image url's (for a non popup view) has repeated category content, e.g.

mysite.com/portfolio/portraits/14-portraits/detail/144-portrait-0030

How can I get it to not have the category in twice?

The next thing is the page titles, if I go to the menu item url's (shown above) I get the following;
(the menu items are set to show page heading (but left blank to use menu title) - otherwise no heading is shown at all)

Portfolio - Portfolio
Portraits - Portraits
Animals - Animals
Buildings - Buildings

If I select the category Portraits on the Portfolio page I get a heading of Portraits only, no heading of Portfolio is shown.

Basically what I am wanting is that the url's be like I have above for the menu items and not use the category urls and for the titles to be the album name, if a subcategory album then the top level name and then the album name, i.e.

Portfolio - Portraits

Can someone please guide me on this please to enable me to achieve the outcome I am looking for as above, which is urls as;

mysite.com/portfolio
mysite.com/portfolio/portraits
mysite.com/portfolio/buildings
mysite.com/portfolio/animals

and titles as;

Portfolio
Portfolio - Portraits
Portfolio - Buildings
Portfolio - Animals

Thanks for all your help

HI, in fact you are describing common issues with SEF:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/16-joomla ... -in-joomla

I think there is no other solution that customization :-(

Titles - you can set in menu link to gallery what will be displayed - there you can hide e.g. displaying menu link title with category title, so one name will be not displayed twice.
