Not A Valid Image

Hi. Yep another post about the message 'not a valid image'. I note that a lot of people have had this error when attempting to upload, but I have not been able to find a solution and now desperately seek assistance.

I have Joomla 2.5, and Phoca Gallery version 3.1.5 installed.
I require users to be able to upload images from the front end into a gallery.
Prior to setting this site live, I did a test from the front end and successfully upload an image.

Then I installed RS Firewall. I recall that it required me to do some permission changes in Phoca for security but unfortunately did not pay much attention. I did that but did not test the uploading of an image again.
I then set the site live.
I was advised today of the error - when someone tries to upload an image into the public gallery, it fails - 'not a valid image'.

I tested and also get this error.
I have tried to upload small size png, jpg, gif etc - all without success. I can however upload the same images from the administrator without problem. I have tested this in 3 different browsers.
I also checked the registered user permissions and appears to be fine (to the best of my knowledge)
I also changed all phoca gallery folders, sub folders and files to permission 777. Still no success in uploading front end.

Thinking this could be the Firewall creating this problem I un-installed it. There was no difference.
I then un-installed Phoca Gallery totally, and re-installed. Still no success.

I have checked the htaccess file and php.ini file (albeit with my limited knowledge) but do not seen any glaring problems.

Now I have no idea where to look and would be very grateful for some help.....please :?

Regards Robyn

Hi, try to check the JFile parameter in Phoca parameters (how images will be stored on server) but not sure if this can help

Hi Jan
The only reference I can find to JFile in the Phoca parameters is under 'security settings' in the Main tab of Options.
Is that what you refer to?
The only option there is JFile Thumbnail Creation - yes/no. I did try that - from yes to no....but it didn't make any difference.

Yes, this is what I mean, this parameter can change writing files on the server.

Maybe you can enable php error reporting, maybe there will be some error rendered before returning the message?
