Where to put the Joomfish files?

I have downloaded the Joomfish files. But in the zip there is non explanation how to go next.
Must I manually put the files somewhere? Or must I use the Joomla installer?

And are these files for the Joomfisc 2 rc?

TIA

Hi,

I haven't installed them myself, because I have a different guestbook for a different language.

But I think you should unpack the zip and go to components >> joomfish >> contentelements and then choose install and select the xml-files in the package.

If it doesn't work, I'd suggest you'd ask it in the Joomfish forums.

Phoca Guestbook is designed for Joomla!1.5. Joom!Fish 1.x doesn't work with Joomla!1.5, so I'd guess these files are for Joom!Fish 2.x series... 8)

That's very clear. However, there is also a third file in the zip-package, jfdatabase_inherit.php. To where to put that file?

At the moment I have those two xml-files installed in J!F. Translating the books works fine but when I choose Items to translate and choose the language also, I will get the next message:

Code: Select all

DB function failed with error number 1054
Unknown column 'c.user_id' in 'field list' SQL=SELECT c.id, c.catid, c.sid, c.username, c.user_id, c.email, c.homesite, c.ip, c.title, c.content, c.date, c.published, c.checked_out as check_out, c.checked_out, c.checked_out_time, c.ordering, c.params, jfc.id as jfc_id, jfc.value as titleTranslation, jfc.modified as lastchanged, jfc.published as published, jfc.language_id, jfl.name as language, jfc.reference_id as jfc_refid FROM jos_phocaguestbook_items as c LEFT JOIN jos_jf_content as jfc ON c.id=jfc.reference_id AND jfc.reference_field='title' AND jfc.reference_table='phocaguestbook_items' AND jfc.language_id=2 LEFT JOIN jos_languages as jfl ON jfc.language_id=jfl.id ORDER BY c.title LIMIT 0, 20
Is this because jfdatabase_inherit.php is not installed or something else?

This joomfishPhocaGuestbook.zip file is dated 28. July 2008. I wonder if it's based on J!F 2.0 beta release (J!F 2.0 RC1 public release was 8. September 2008). If there were changes, do they conflict. Just a thought.

Can anybody confirm that these content elements work with J!F?
I have say that this is no major issue to me because I just finished guestbook translation into Finnish and started to test it with J!F (and with xml-files too).

As far as I understand, J!F team does not provide support for third party content elements unless they have developed them. But maybe I should ask in J!F forum about this bd function failure.

Hi, I have installed Phoca Guestbook and the both xml files and it seems to work (btw, the main strings will be translated automatically by using different language files for Phoca Guestbook)

Joomfish is about content translation, and there is no content in Phoca Guestbook, I think translate every message is not necessary. But if you want to translate it, it should work, I think...

Ok, I'll try one more time with new 1.5.8. Pure testing though. If I have time and inspiration for this, I'll post to J!F forum also.

Yes, I know (being a moderator in J!F forum 8)).

@rafa:

may I ask why you need the content element files? See this post on the Joom!Fish forumsfor setting up a multilingual guestbook with Phoca Guestbook and Joom!Fish.

with kind regards,

Carolien
