Please explain the create thumbnails function

Can I ask for someone to explain how the thumbnail creation is supposed to work for phocagallery.

Is it supposed to be set to yes or not?

If no then how and when are the thumbnails created or are they not created at all and they are just shown the full size image?

If yes why does the system kind of give you the impression that you should not have it set to yes?

We have 1000's of photos and dong the thumbnail recreation takes a considerable amount of time and cpu resources. We want to recreate as we are making the smaller thumbnail image slightly larger.

So what setting do most people use and how is it meant to work for best performance etc.

Cheers

GW

Hi, thumbnails are created only once per image. It means, if you are adding images, you still need to have it enabled, because thumbnails are used in image gallery. If you are not adding images anymore to your gallery, it is good to disable the function "automatically thumbnails creation" to save the performance of your server (because while automatically thumbnails creating Phoca Gallery searches images which have not thumbnails yet and if it finds some, it will create the thumbnail)
