I uploaded some photos to an existing Category folder and got the following message when Phoca was creating thumbnails:

    Image (wrong type or broken image) - remove the image or upload new image via e.g. FTP
    GD Library (not correctly working GD library, not working GD functions) - install or reinstall GD library
    Permissions (no rights to write files or folders) - change the permissions of image/phocagallery folders on your server,

you can go back to Phoca Gallery. Phoca Gallery will try to create the thumbnails again.
Go to the Phoca Gallery
» You can close this box and solve the problem e.g. in Media Manager or via FTP.

I am not sure what to look for or what to do. I used Media Manager and the photos are in the folder. I can view them with no problem. Of course, they do not show up in Images because the Thumbnail procedure did not successfully complete. And they do not have thumbnails in the thumbs folder. I am unsure if deleting them using Media Manager or my FTP client (Filezilla) will screw up the Phoca database. I am a newbie first class with Joomla and Phoca, so any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, this is some problem located in GD library:

- so there can be some problem with function imagecreatefromjpeg() (check GD, check if it is up to date)
- or the image can be corrupted - then GD cannot manage it (sometimes it can happen, that such image can be displayed with errors in PC but cannot be managed to make thumbnails on the server)

Does other images work?

I was able to get the thumbnails to generate by doing the following:

deleting the images from the folder;
resizing the photo (although it was 2.3 MB, which should work);
uploading the photos again.

I will check the GD version though. Thanks for the reply.

Hi, 2.3 is too much for most servers, servers are not like PC at home, they have a lot of other work that creating thumbnails, co 2.3 MB to create thumbnails can be too much.
