installation problems in Joomla 1.7

One of the reviews gave Phocagallery 2 stars and was very frustrated, as I am. The response was to read the documentation, which the review and I both did, and neither of us found it helpful. Then the advice was to use Joomla or Phocagallery forums, which it has taken me a while to figure out also, and I'm not even sure now if I'm posting this in the "correct" place.

When I repeatedly tried to upload Phocagallery in the extension manager it always timed out and I was unable to complete the upload. One forum posting I saw instructed to upload it through my FTP manager, which also didn't work because I couldn't figure out what the directory path was.

While I was in my Go Daddy FTP manager I noticed that some of the files were there, but apparently not all, and I couldn't copy and paste the files into the manager, as instructed by the documentation for problems installations.

Please don't assume I know my way around Joomla or Go Daddy.

Hi, so this seems the frustruating and bad rating was false as this is:

a) a problem of installation which is all done by Joomla! not by Phoca
b) a problem of hosting which has no resorces to install large components.

So if you have problems to install large components on server, Phoca Gallery cannot do anything with this problem :-(, try to see:

https://www.phoca.cz/documents/16-joomla ... -in-joomla

so possible solutions:
1) install large components per ftp
2) increase memory settings on server

It is not possible to remove some parts of component to be smaller as the it will not work anymore :-(
