phoca slideshow plugin not showing pictures.

It worked wonderfully in 1.5 but I can't get it to work in 1.7. It is being used in articles. The text for the plugin is not shown in the article so it is being processed but no pictures appear. I am thinking that it is a permissions thing or an error in the assets table. Can you make any suggestions?

The category is definitely visible.
