Front End uploaded images not in designated folder

Hi all,
I have a website with Joomal 1.7.3 and Phoca Gallery 3.1.1. Now I have a small but annoying problem with user uploads.
I have a root category named "Upload". I am marked as owner, registered users can upload images. The owner folder is set to "uploads". This folder exists (/images/phocagallery/uploads) and is set to 777.
I'm not using the UCP, the users go to the gallery, and if they click category "Uploads", they get the upload panel.
The users have to create a sub-category and than do their uploads. I am not getting any messages, and the images are sent to the server. So far so good.
But I expect them to appear in a subfolder of "Uploads". Now a seperate folder is created named "[userid]-[part of sub-category title]-[number]. It is created directly in /images/phocagallery.

So for instance /images/phocagallery/jojo-testit-5183. I expected /images/phocagallery/uploads/jojo-testit-5183. I don't want them on the place they get now, it clutters up the folder-structure and I have to move them manually.
I did a wide search on this forum, but didn't find a solution.
What did I do wrong?

(I tried to remove myself as owner, but that didn't help)
Regards,
Harm

Hi, to manage the images, rights, etc. every user has own folder where images are stored of him/her. To not have such feature, the component needs to be customized (but then there can be problems with rights, etc.

I understand your statement and it is good that every user has its own directory. But like herteen wrote bevor:
"...But I expect them to appear in a subfolder of "Uploads". Now a seperate folder is created named "[userid]-[part of ..."
So this will end up in a mess when there are houndrets of users without havin a root directory.

Hello Jan,
That's not what your own documentation says.
User Folder - select the folder on your server disc (images/phocagallery/selected-folder ... selected-folder is a folder created in images/phocagallery/ folder e.g. via FTP or Media Manager) where the uploaded images will be saved. If the User Folder is not set, frontend user will be not able to upload images.
I can't find a User Folder anymore, but I can find a owner folder. I filled that.
The folder of the catergory Uploads is set. Every registered user can upload here. So I expect the files to come in the uploads folder, because that's what the documentation says. I like it that each user gets his own subfolder, but it should be created in the category folder, not in the root.

Hi, some parts in documentation are obsolete - user folder is owner folder.
For creating the subfolder in category not in the root - the gallery needs to be customized

step 1: i creat category and select category folder and set the permissions
step 2: i log in with permitted user in the frontend and im able to create subcategories, upload pics, multiple upload...
Step 3: the sub-cats are created and the pics are uploaded successfully when i check in FTP
But as you can see, the cats + subcats are created outside of the selected folder in step 1.
The selected category folder is of course existing.
But as you can see in step 3: all created subcats are not inside the selcted category folder.

Hi, Phoca Gallery uses independent database and filesystem layer - user folders are created in root of phocagallery image and don't follow filesystem structure.

ok, i see this this. For me this not really a problem, coz i dont have many users. But how about sites with many users. The managment will be less headache if each user has its own folder - with hes sub-cats in it.
And....what is the step 1 for when the cats are not inside the selected cat-directory?
