Upgrade to 3.1

I'm on Joomla 1.7.2 and just upgraded Phoca Gallery from 3.0.2 to 3.1.0 - and wish I hadn't!
Selected 'Upgrade' since I was going from 3.0.2 to 3.1.0.
Result was that when clicking menu link (menutype: Phoca Gallery ยป List Of Categories (Categories View)) the categories was shown in content section (as it should) - and immediately below the "Powered by Phoca Gallery" was shown the menus which should be in the right column! In the right column the sites Copyright footer was shown.
When clicking menu link to show User Control Panel I got a totally blank screen...
Luckily, the site I'm working on is still in test (=not all - but many

- categories etc. created yet), so I figured I would do 'Install' instead of trying to find (or wait for) a solution.
Result is, that the fact I have to start from scratch works as expected(!)

, but the errors still exists.
I have managed to get the User Control Panel to display by setting 'Enable custom CSS' to 'No'.
The template layout on the other hand is still screwed up as mentioned above.
And yes, installing Phoca Gallery 3.1.0 is the only change made to the site, so I'm pretty sure I know what to blame...
In theory

I could have done something wrong, but have no idea what that could be.
For now, I think I will go back to 3.0.2...

I can add, that the 'alternative reordering' of the template layout occurs for both user with upload rights and user with just viewing rights.
By looking at the generated html-source it seems to me that there somewhere is missing a simple </form>. Don't know if that's the error, or if it's just a sideeffect of another error...
With no categories to display (as I'm back to scratch...) the only thing displayed in content section (when clicking menu link mentioned in previous post) is the "Powered by Phoca Gallery". That's okay.
When 3.0.2 is installed, the generated source code looks like this:
Code: Select all
<div id="phocagallery" class="pg-categories-view"><div id="pg-icons"></div><form action="http://www.********.com/index.php/************" method="post" name="adminForm"></form><div> </div><div style="text-align: center; color: rgb(211, 211, 211);">Powered by <a href="https://www.phoca.cz" style="text-decoration: none;" target="_blank" title="Phoca.cz">Phoca</a> <a href="https://www.phoca.cz/phocagallery" style="text-decoration: none;" target="_blank" title="Phoca Gallery">Gallery</a></div></div>
When 3.1.0 is installed, the generated source code looks like this:
Code: Select all
<div id="phocagallery" class="pg-categories-view"><div id="pg-icons"></div><div style="clear:both"></div><form action="http://www.********.com/index.php/************" method="post" name="adminForm">
<div style="text-align: center; color: rgb(211, 211, 211);">Powered by <a href="https://www.phoca.cz" style="text-decoration: none;" target="_blank" title="Phoca.cz">Phoca</a> <a href="https://www.phoca.cz/phocagallery" style="text-decoration: none;" target="_blank" title="Phoca Gallery">Gallery</a></div>
</div>
The <form ...> tag is never closed with </form>.

Hi, I am testing it now and get no such problems. Can I see it somewhere to check which settings can do this.
Can you enable php error reporting to see which error your get on UCP:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/16-joomla ... ent-errors
Jan
EDIT - I thik I found the problem with form, so please try to enable the php error reporting to get info about the blank screen.

Ok, the missing form tag was fixed in the same version 3.1.0 (try to upgrade the version 3.1.0 from 28.10.2011 to version 3.1.0 from 30.10.2011)

The error I get is the "500 - JDatabaseMySQL::query: 1054 - Unknown column 'ordering' in 'order clause' SQL=SELECT * FROM #_languages WHERE published=1 ORDER BY ordering ASC".
In fact, with error reporting 'On' I get that error on every menulink, but somehow it doesn't matter at normal use - everything else behave as expected (obviously just 'skipping' that error). But the menulink for UCP apparently halts on that error, and gives blank screen.
Five minutes later: Took the opportunity to actually try to do something about it, so I added the column 'ordering' to the table #_languages. And VOILA! the UCP appears
So maybe the only 'fault' in Phoca Gallery regarding this, is not to accept others faults?
As you may have guessed, these database changes doesn't help with the form-issue.

Downloaded, installed - and I'm a happy guy!
Now i'm only a little mad at myself for choosing to start from scratch instead of waiting for your quick respons and correcting of a small 'typo'...
I should have known better, as support is always that good!
Thanks!

I've got a similar problem after ugprade as hdissing had.
When I try to go to phoca gallery > categories , panel is completely messed up, and I get a "JHtml: :batch not supported. File not found." at the bottom (see attached screenie - polish language in backed).
I upgraded to 3.1 with patch posted on 28th 2 days ago. Today after upgrading with today released patch nothing changed.
What's this mysterious file that phoca cannot find ?
I don't know if I should post mine second problem in this thread (I'll create a new one if I won't get any answers here), but when I add a new page with phoca's "category list (category view)" type, instead of gallery list I get a google map which is centered to the middle of Prague.
I was like

because I didn't install phoca maps plugin.
I can't find anything related to maps using search, because it's too common word.
I use joomla 1.6.6 + latest phoca gallery 3.1

Hi, first of all, upgrade to Joomla! 1.7, Phoca Gallery 3.1.0 is Joomla! 1.7 component.
Anyway, as 1.6 is not supported yet, it is highly recommended to upgrade to 1.7
(the batch feature is a joomla! 1.7 feature)

ohh....forgot to mention that I've found somewhere an identical problems, but the only answer told to upgrade to J1.7.
I'm afraid that's impossible because of the same reason: some components I use are not j1.7 compatible.
I was trying to develop whe website on 1.7 from scratch, but there were only problems, and after fixing dozens of them I gave up, as it started to remind a never ending story.
Since it became a common problem, and from what I've seen dozen people use J1.6, wouldn't it be possible to came up with a patch for J1.6 to downgrade administration of categories and images ?
Or is there a way to completely downgrade phoca gallery without loosing all settings ?
What version is dedicated to J1.6 ?
ps. what about map showing up instead of gallery list ?
edit: just found an useful thread:
viewtopic.php?f=31&t=14569
and did the same but with p.gallery. I have to admit that phoca installer is well thought and works flawlessly when it goes to ugprading and downgrading existing version.

Well... Happiness don't last forever...
I'm back to the workaround "I have managed to get the User Control Panel to display by setting 'Enable custom CSS' to 'No'."
When set to 'Yes' I get a completely blank screen. No PHP errors shown this time - and even a 'View Source' is empty (unless "<html><head></head><body></body></html>" is considered content...).
Same behaviour in both Firefox and IE.
It makes no difference if set to 'Yes' AND clearing the content from the 'Custom CSS' box.
I can't think of any changes made to my site that should cause this problem to reappear, and I have no other 'mysterious behaviour' with the site and/or extensions.
It's not an important issue for me - I can live without enabling custom CSS, but I guess it is not the way it is meant to be.
