Categories view like Category display

Hi!
Is it possible in the list of categories, that the images appearing next to the description has the same effect as when you are inside the category and you click on the first image from the list? I would like to get the presentation display when you click on the picture in the categories list instead of doing two steps and go inside the category to get it.
Don't know if that makes any sense to you, guys, but I guess i will need to go into the code, which i've already tried with no success.
