Hello,

I was wondering if there is any documentation for upgrading a site from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 1.7. I planned on doing this with Jupgrade, but don't want to loose all my phoca galleries and images (which there is a lot of). What is the best way to to do the upgrade using the current information in phoca gallery and not having to recreate categories and add the images again?

Hi, for now I don't know any upgrade script, the best method for now is to use the Mulitple Add to quickly convert images to gallery (if the images include thumbnails will be copied to server, there is no need to recreate thumbnails again)

Hi Jan,
I understand what you mean by using the Multiple Add, but what do I have to do when all my images are in Google Picasa?
Can I export some table out of the Joomla! 1.5 database and import them in the Joomla! 1.7 database?

I hope that you or one of the forum-members can tell me what to do.

I understand what you are saying about "multiple add", but if there are thumbs already for the photos. Do we want to turn thumbnail creation off? Also what happens to the categories when going from 1.5 to 1.7? Do we have to recreate them or bring a database table over?

Hi, if the thumbnails are created, they will be not created again, the same thumbnail from the same image is not recreated except if you will use "recreate button".

I have all the images on the server. If I import them all, what's about the Users? Will they be lost?
What's about the categories/galleries?

I am about to try and do the same thing, from J1.5 to J1.7, so what are the correct steps to do this?

Can I export the category list from the J1.5 site and import it into the J1.7 site?

Can I export and import anything else from the J1.5 site to the J1.7 site?

The J1.5 site I have just updated to 2.8 and the J1.7 site uses the 3.0.2

Hi, I didn't upgrade from 1.5 to 1.7 yet so for now I cannot give any specific advice

WELL THERE BE SOME INFORMATIOM FOR UPGRADING FROM 1.5 to 1.7 BEFORE THE END LIFE OF 1.5?
IS I BETTER TO GO FROM 1.5 to 1.6 then to 1.7??
