Feature Request: Import/Export Markers

"Blue Sky" feature request...

Import and Export markers via CSV. I'm sure that would require a component/plugin to be developed that allows designating certain column headers to equate to the the proper variables to allow them to be databased, populated and plotted in the front end.

As long as I'm dreaming, inclusion of an auto "geo-locate" option on import based on address would be amazing as well.

Hi, why not use the KML which can be saved, modified, etc. so then the import/export feature is not needed as all changes are done in the KML

I'm thinking the geo-locate part might be the pain in the rump to that scenario. If I'm given a list of 100 or so locations with addresses, would I have to go to Google maps to properly figure out the lat/long of each? Is there a tool somewhere that makes creation of a phoca maps compatible kml file fairly simple or is it all hand coded? And is there a template of which tags are used by phoca maps?

Sorry to be a pill. Creating kml files is something new to me. I've created plenty of XML files with tags that were aggregated by other software but the tags were pretty specific.

Hi, in fact KML files can be so different that it is not possible to create for them some generator - this can take a lot of time :-( :-(

What you mean which tags are used by phoca maps?

So, it's been a couple years. Has a method of importing or exporting markers been developed? I'm being asked to provide the address details of all markers assigned to one of my maps but I'm not sure if that's even possible apart from trying to extract the data from an SQL dump of the entire website.

Any ideas or is there a tool out there that adds import/export functionality?

Hi, as written, for now there is no such option, as the KML should work this way
