Problem with Frontend Upload

Hi!
I have a site with Joomla! 1.6.6 Stable version and the latest Phoca gallery.
Creating Categories and uploading Images in the Backend is working fine and everything else is ok EXCEPT
When i try to upload images using the user control center in the frontend an error occurs.
The errormessage in the frontend is "Error while saving the content" (actually i am using the german language file, so i translated it. in german it is: "Fehler beim speichern des Inhaltes.")
i tried already different image sizes and filesizes, different filenames etc, i dont know why this error occurs.
The image is being copied to the phocagallery-image folder correctly.
Does anybody know, why this happens? I would appreciate your help
