Does anyone have any experience of occasional very high file download statistics?

When reviewing the user statistics from the file page in admin, occasionally some users are reported to have downloaded several hundred times (same day). I don't think this is accurate.

I am having the same problem.

My download numbers will go up by 2/6/10/20 times per download.

Also downloads are counted when the file download has not really been finished downloading.

How can I check this out?

ok so - I have been able to find out that whenever someone uses a download manager the file download number pop up hundreds of time (the number of times the download manager connects to download the file)

How would we fix this??

ok, so I have been able to determine that when a file is downloaded with a download manager it requests partial parts of the files - and this places the HTTP 206 partial line in the logfiles.
So I believe that the download counter is also counting the 206 partial downloads, we would thus need to only have it count the HTTP 200 requests?
Some more help on this would be appreciated

Let me know if you need any logs from my server or anything.

Also we mostly server the Chinese community so they use many different download managers. But at this stage I think all download managers and even start/pause/start downloads are affected.
