1st time setup

I'm sorry this is such a silly and newbie question but I can't figure it out. I've reviewed the documents as well and there is no simple, step by step instructions on how to setup Phoca download in the Joomla admin site of your website. Is there something out there that shows this? I just want to create a simple page that has a bunch of documents my users can download. That's it. But I'm missing something and can't get this.

I've gone to the Phoca control panel, created a new category, uploaded a file and published it, but I can't tie that into the rest of my site. What am I missing???

Thanks!

Hi,
just create a menu link to Phoca Download Component.
If you use joomla v1.5 you should use Phoca Download Section List Layout
if you use joomla v1.6 you should use Phoca Download List of Categories (Categories View)

Kind regards,
Benno

Trying to do that but I'm not getting anywhere. I'm using 1.6. Is it that I need to create an article or a category? When I create a category, I don't see any option to tie it back to the Phoca download files I've created. Sorry, any ideas?

Hi,
Is it that I need to create an article or a category?
Nothing of that, it's a menu link.
Do following:
backend --> Menus --> Main Menu --> Add New Menu Item --> Menu Manager: New Menu Item --> Menu Item Type --> Select --> Phoca Download --> List Of Categories (Categories View) -->
Menu Title=(As you like, e.g. Downloads)
Save & Close

Now you should see in frontend a new Menu link called e.g. Downloads
If you press this link you will see your created category, and if you klick this categorie you will find your file.

Hope this helps,
Kind regards,
Benno
