On the Category view we are using Thumbnails instead of folder icons for the categories, whereas even we don't want to display the images in the subcategories until the last level of the category shown.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

You can chance nearly all parameters if you go to Components >> Phoca Gallery >> Control Center
At the Top on the right there is the "Settings / Parameter" Button, there you can chance for each view the "Use Picture instead of Icons"
