OK, I did spent 20 minutes going through the forum, but I didn't find the answer to these questions. Is it really true that front end users cannot create new categories/galleries? And, how on earth do you add a new front end user anyway and set their privileges?

Yes, I saw that page. But, I do not seem to get this page when I log in from the front end. Do I need to add users into Phoca, in addition to being a Joomla front end user? If so, where do I do that? When I go into the user management part of Phoca, I do not see a way to add a user.

Hi, you need to create menu link to UCP and enable it in parameters, see Phoca Documentation for more information.

OK. So, I got the UCP to show with the proper link (apparently had it set for an earlier version of Phoca). Now, from reading the posts, it appears that a front end editor can only add images to one main category they define (but not to any of the predefined categories that were defined on the back end) and to the subcategories of that main category. But, they can manage any of the categories using the category view if the permissions are set that way. Is that correct? If so, it seems if I want my front end editor to manage all of the categories I either need to use the front end category view or give her administrator privileges???

What am I missing here. Great software, Jan, but maybe you need a "baby" version without so many options for those of us who just want to set up a gallery with some categories and assign some user to manage it from the front end, so we don't have to give administrator privileges to a person who shouldn't be messing around in the back end.

OK. Here is what I need to know to solve my problem I have some existing categories set up and I cannot figure out how to give my front end editor permission to manage (upload, publish, delete, etc.) these categories. How does one do that? Or, is it not possible????

For users who may be reading this post, the process is a bit more complicated than the user instructions indicate.

To give front end users permission to add images, you have to go to the "parameters" settings (far right, control panel) and set up the front end user authorizations.(In spite of this, I still cannot get my front end user authorized for the avatar setting.) Then, you have to be sure in the "categories" menu that existing categories give that user permission to add or change images in those categories. (I have my user now able to create a single main category and multiple subcategories, but I still do not see how they can delete a subcategory or the main category, or create more than one main category??).

If I figure it out, I'll post it here.
