Hi all,
I've installed Phoca Download on my website but when I activate Search Engine Friendly URLs or Use Apache mod_rewrite to
yes in the SEO Settings of the global configuration I get blank page when I click on the download link.
I noticed that before I activate these parameters the URL was :
Code: Select all
http://www.softdz.com/index.php?option=com_phocadownload&view=category&id=1&Itemid=54
after activating the URL become :
Code: Select all
http://www.softdz.com/phocadownload
and here I get the blank page.
Is there any solution for that problem please ?
Thank you

I'm sure your rewrite rules are faulty.
I'm using mod_rewrite also and nothing similar happens (on Joomla1.6.3 with PD 2.0.0rc3).
So check your rules again. The first time i used mod_rewrite i had a little mistake.
I've searched a solution a whole day because i was sure my rules are correct.
After hours I've found my mistake and now anything works as expected.

I think most of the people out there using Joomla have their rules in the .htaccess file.
It is also possible to write them directly to the configuration file of your webserver installation.
Did you take the .htaccess file from your Joomla installation or did you write one by yourself?
Are the other links working with these rules?

As it is said in the global configuration panel, before activating the SEO settings we must rename in the server the htaccess.txt which is provided in the Joomla folder to .htaccess and it is what I've done.
Are the other links working with these rules?
The others links works fine except the Phoca Download
Thanks

and sorry I should had to post the solution when I found it.
Thank you for the help.

I comeback beacause I tested my web site with the three options activated
Code: Select all
Search Engine Friendly URLs=yes
Use Apache mod_rewrite=yes
Add suffix to URLs=yes
I didn't knew that Add suffix to URLs=no will make trouble and now my problem is not totally solved.
and with IE6 it doesn't work because I use Firefox for testing.
Anyway here is the link to the download page
http://www.softdz.com/phocadownload/
Thanks

Add suffix to url will only add .html at the end of your links. My opinion: totally useless!
And do not use IE6!

What's about IE7-9?
-Edit-
I have to write this, because it was to funny:
You have a javascript included, which shows a message when using an older browser version!
Now I browse to your site with the IE9, which is the actual IE and see the message.
Now why do you care about IE6?

When it works with IE7 up to IE9 anything is fine!
And is phocadownload the right alias?

I agree with you I didn't know that option do nothing.
Now why do you care about IE6?
Because There are visitors who has still IE6 browsers I suppose ?
I noticed that it works only with one of the option SEF or mod_rewrite for the two browsers (IE7+, Firefox)
I don't know which is the best for the referencing.
Thanks SonRiab
