Components > Phoca Gallery.... scroll down and you will see a blue box saying "check for update"
If you are using RC4 I think you are ok atm, Jan is still testing RC5 i think so no bother with updating just yet......
Good Luck

thanks IrishGuru,
... ok, than I stay with RC4.
but I too want to test the usability ...
----
and: I doesn´t work realy.
"check for update" is guiding to the downloadpage, where I get the last version. But than ...?
That´s my question.
With the J! tool to install, you doesn´t get the update-option and in the PG-backend, there ist also no option to catch the file for just-updating.

The way i updated from RC4 to RC5 was the following:
1. Check for Update
2. Current Version Download
3. Phoca Gallery Component
4. Download "com_phocagallery_v3_rc5.zip"
5. Then install through extension manager
Worked fine for me

hi,

and than I choosed "upgrade".
and after these (no error), the photos in the frontend are gone.
there are empty categories ...
(the description is still there)
in the backend they are still there and too and in the correct cat.
I don´t know yet .... will see ...
and the "mistake" comes from the new files, because when I replay the old folders, the pics are back.
cheers, s.

so,
to solve the problem, I had to update from 4 to 5 and fill "language" on the #__phocagallery table
