Gallery Themes - can I install manually?

A previous thread describes a few of us who get failures installing themes.
If that cannot be fixed, can anyone specify how to install a theme manually?
I can easily put the files from the .zip in any folder you tell me but will simply placing the files that make them usable?
Thanks if anyone can help.

Hi, I still didn't get information where the theme were installed. (On all test servers, everything works OK with theme installing

)
After I get the information, then we can try to go to next tests - to recognize what can be wrong.

I had replied that, YES I tried Theme View as well......
I *was* using Extension Manager at first.
Then I tried in Theme View in Phoca Gallery and got
"Copy failed Failed to copy file to Unable to find required information in install package" on black, inverse and ocean in every combination of tick choices.
Wish I had more hints as to cause, but I cannot. I can Skype you if you want. I am boblepp on Skype.

Jan,
I have the exact same issue as boblepp. I would really like to make the gallery look just like your Joomla 1.6 demo. When I used Phoca Gallery on a Joomla 1.5 site, everythink worked flawlessly.
Thanks again for the great work!

Is it possible the theme gets uploaded into one folder name but it then looks to install it from a different folder name?
That might explain why no file name is displayed in the error message. Then the other error is a red herring.

I do not see the theme .zip file at all on my server. It must be targeted to a non-existent folder and fails to upload.
Can anyone on 1.5 tell me what server folder the Theme .zip is uploaded to? I will try a manual copy there to see if the symptoms change.
Thanks!
Turned on debug and got:

I am using Joomla 1.6
Are the Themes supposed to work for 1.6??
The .xml starts with...
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE install SYSTEM "
http://dev.joomla.org/xml/1.5/component-install.dtd">
-<install version="1.5.0" type="component" method="phocagallerytheme"> <name>Black</name> <creationDate>16/10/2008</creationDate> <author>Jan Pavelka (https://www.phoca.cz)</author> <authorEmail>

Hi, the themes are ready to be installed on J1.6, there were not overwritten because of time issue, but the Phoca Gallery recognition of the XML can work with the "old" themes.
Manually installation means:
- you will copy the images to the phoca gallery component image folder
- you will set up the parameters in global configuration
